Frequently asked questions
We do not currently offer backing and request that you provide your own. It will need to be at least 4 inches wider on each side of your quilt, and at least 8 inches longer at the top and bottom for Cotton quilting fabric backing.
For Cuddle or Minky the fabric needs to be at least 10 inches top and bottom and 5 inches wider on each side.
In short, yes, but understand that when pieces are sewn together they tend to pull and stretch at different rates. Add into the mix the warp (length of the fabric) and weft (width of the fabric) being sewn together in larger pieces tends to create twisting when it is loaded with even the small amount of tension on a longarm frame. as the quilt is being quilted these pieces will continue to warp until the end. This may result in a possibly twisted and non-symmetrical look at the back by the time the quilting process is finished.
Nevertheless, we welcome any kind of creativity you would like to represent on the back as long as you are aware of probable outcomes.
We offer a multitude of colors of Glide thread. It comes in over 200 colors and is an excellent quilt topping thread. It is made of a strong and durable triobal polyester. This creates bright vivid colors and a rayon-like finish giving richness and depth to the finished quilt. We love to help match the perfect thread color to your quilt to create a beatiful compliment to your creation.
We offer Pellon 80/20 unbleached cotton polyester blend. Made in the US with high-quality standards. This is perfect for anyone wanting natural cotton batting without the disadvantages of 100% cotton. It has a 3 to 5% shrinkage and is good for stitches up to 8 to 10 inches apart.
We also offer Pellon 100% polyester batting that is more lighter, insulating, and drys faster than the 80/20. This is the best for lighter color quilts and quilts with white fabric as the cotton blend tends to show through.
